MODIFIED CALENDAR UPDATE

The Calendaring Committee presented their recommendations for the modified calendar for 2009-2010 to the school board at their study session in October. This document as presented is available for the review of parents, teachers and all other interested parties at the following link:

A quick word about the format of this document to make it less confusing. The first page of the document has comments specific to the recommended 9-1 proposal and a table at the bottom that shows how the calendaring committee voted on the two 9-2 proposals and two 9-1 proposals (9-2 meaning a two week break in the fall and spring, whereas 9-1 means a one week break in the fall and spring). The pages that follow are the four calendars that were presented and correspond to 9-1B, 9-2A, 9-2B and 9-1A (arranged in that order). In all likelihood, the calendars on page 2 (9-1 recommendation) and page 3 (9-2 recommendation) will be the ones to be debated next Tuesday at the November 18th regular session of the Sumner County Board of Education at 7:00 PM at 695 East Main Street, Gallatin.

The school board members are very eager to hear the opinions of not just teachers, but especially of parents and even those who may not have a child in school. You may send your comments to sumnerboe@bellsouth.net and please be sure to include your name and address at the bottom of your email so that each school board member can pay special attention to the comments from their own district. Thank you for your interest in this matter.
